Freddy and Patches - Fiber Art Frogs

Above, Freddie is lounging by his old pond at Soley's, holding his detachable lily pad pouch which is made of silk. See the close up at right.

Freddie in now living at the Polywog Fiber Art Studio, with newly found fiber art frog friends.

Patches is a fiber frog created by MAK in May 2009. He has his own hammock to lounge on. Patches was flattered that he won viewers choice at the BCQG Show.

Why Polywog?

Perhaps a better question is why not Polywog?

Growing up in the mid-west, with a houseful of brothers, the Polywog Pond was the best place to escape. Although it was across the street from home, to me, the pond was deep in the forest. Quiet and peaceful, what an exciting place to watch for frog eggs, or finally discover they had hatched into polliwogs, and eventually see them turn into frogs.

And the colors, what an array of colors! From the deepest greens, to the softest blues, mixed in were a blur of browns, and yellows, and violets... Splashes of white, pink and perhaps orange or fuchsia.

The fiber art process is very similar. Finding the fabrics, cutting them into pieces, joining the pieces to make a top, quilting it together to make an an art quilt. And the colors and textures of the fabrics, unlimited.

The Polywog Pond will continue to live on...

Randy R Kuehl 19 Jul 1957 - 22 Oct 2009

I will always remember my little brother Randy - he was well liked, and kind to all. He had a good heart and I miss him each and every day. He proudly served his country in the US Marines, and had one lovely daughter Lyn, who he cherished. His life was difficult, as he struggled with brittle diabetes, but he never gave up. He is gone from this life - but he is NOT FORGOTTEN.
